Mr.
Onello earned a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering
from Rochester Institute of Technology and a J.D.
degree from Suffolk University Law School.
He is a member of the bar of the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts and is registered to practice
before the U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts,
the Court of Appeals of the Federal Circuit and
the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He
is also a member of the American Bar Association,
the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Boston
Patent Law Association, the American Intellectual
Property Law Association, and Eta Kappa Nu.
Mr. Onello worked as an engineer
for several years in industry, participating in
the development of digital signal processing systems,
including hardware design, software design, and
hardware/software integration. As a design
engineer at Textron Defense Systems, he designed,
built, and tested a data collection circuit implemented
on field programmable gate arrays, and integrated
and tested various software algorithms on a prototype
parallel processing system. Prior
to that, as a design engineer at Raytheon Corporation,
he integrated and tested software algorithms on
a proof-of-principle processor system, and was
involved in various ASIC and discrete-level hardware
designs. Before that, he was an ASIC Applications
Engineer with Digital Equipment Corporation, where
he simulated digital ASIC designs and validated
their operation on vendor hardware.
Since entering the intellectual property law field,
Mr. Onello has participated in a range of patent
and trademark matters, including prosecuting U.S.
and foreign patent applications, conducting patentability
studies, and drafting validity opinions and infringement
opinions. In particular, he has prepared
and prosecuted patent applications in the fields
of semiconductor devices, semiconductor fabrication
processes, computer hardware and software, microprocessor
architectures, communication systems, optics,
solid state lasers, semiconductor lasers, microwave
devices, superconductors, medical systems including
computed tomography imaging systems, medical devices,
surgical instruments, and mechanical systems. |
